Volume & Velocity update (marketing stream clarification)
We clarified what the Volume & Velocity marketing stream actually entails, and documented the motivation, vision, and workflow. The motivation is simple: we do a lot across products, but most updates never become public posts because the workflow takes too much time.
Vision: take what’s already shared in #whats-cooking and turn it into clean social posts fast, with minimal manual work.
What’s done so far
- Discord fetch script: pulls items from
#whats-cookinginto a GitHub inbox/folder. - Fast social skill (MVP): turns a rough inbox note into ready-to-post drafts for X and LinkedIn.
Working flow today
Discord update → inbox → AI draft

Ola thoughts
I’m not sure it’s worth posting Flowershow on all of these platforms.
A lot of them seem pretty low-quality, and many require adding a backlink badge, which makes them feel more like SEO farms than genuine discovery channels. My impression is that this may have had more value in the past, but today links from trusted, high-authority platforms matter far more.
So I’d prioritize places like Product Hunt, Hacker News, Reddit, Quora, and maybe a small number of others. Beyond that, there are hundreds of directory sites, and I doubt most of them have much real impact.
I also doubt ChatGPT, Perplexity, and similar tools will surface or cite these kinds of spammy platforms. They are much more likely to rely on reputable communities, trusted websites, and strong content.
So overall, I’d rather focus on Product Hunt, community-led platforms with real credibility like Reddit and HN, and creating lots of demo videos for YouTube.
I also suspect PublishMarkdown ranks well partly because they chose a highly relevant keyword as their domain name.
This opinion is also partly influenced by some SEO experts I’ve been listening to recently 😉

Anchor Moments
Created a short brief with key questions to clarify focus and identify important moments for each product. Shared with Ola and Dominik, next is Anu. Also looking for feedback on whether this approach works.
Newsletters
No major updates. We want to relaunch DataHub newsletter, but need to align with Anu first.
Open questions
- Align on strategy: How should we split content effort across products (e.g. 50/30/20, equal, or one anchor + two supporting)? What do we want to promote mostly now?
Anu
✅
- I have 100K views on Reddit this month (e.g. last 2 weeks)
Dashboard (summary)
- Post views: 100K (+87.1K from previous month)
- Upvotes received: 276 (+264)
- Total followers: 5 (+1)
Additional note
- According to PostHog we have 412 users from Reddit in the last 14 days
- Not sure if we can assume 100K views on Reddit → 412 users

Meeting Structure & Process Improvements
- Need work tracker for team to review progress systematically
- Currently people track individually, need common system
- Would improve team functionality significantly
- Tension surfacing approach
- Better to capture tensions first, then schedule dedicated discussion time
- Someone should prepare brief summary beforehand rather than discussing immediately
- Created Discord thread called “tensions” for immediate capture
Content Calendar & Anchor Moments Review
- Reviewed content calendar work from previous week
- Focus on anchor moments as most relevant area for content calendar
- Need clarity on ownership and next month’s anchor moments
- Yoana working on brief to align with everyone on content focus
Product Marketing Updates
Flowershow Platform Promotion (Ola)
- Completed systematic posting across multiple platforms
- Key findings:
- Only 3 platforms worth effort: Reddit, Hacker News, YouTube
- Many discovery platforms are low-value spam
- Some platforms require payment or have delays
- Reddit post achieved 3.2k views, 12 upvotes
- Created playbook for future product launches
- Recommends focusing on high-reputation, community-led platforms
Data Hub Marketing (Anu)
- Using automated tracking system for Reddit posting schedule
- Cannot auto-post but system reminds when to post manually
- Need systematic marketing plan for Data Hub datasets
- Should identify target audiences and posting frequency
Volume & Velocity Project (Daniela)
- Currently prioritizing video ads over Volume & Velocity development
- Project aims to automate social media posting across multiple platforms
- Would benefit Anu by automating Data Hub dataset announcements
- Need dedicated deep work session to move project forward
Marketing Workflow Tensions
- Yoana expressed frustration with fragmented content tracking
- Information scattered across DMs, Discord, Git Chat, multiple channels
- Needs single source of truth to avoid cognitive overload
- Feels invalidated when workflow requests are blocked
- Ola supported Yoana’s concerns about tool decisions
- Suggests management by objectives approach
- Let marketing team choose tools, measure results
- Avoid micromanaging implementation methods
Content Distribution Strategy
- Debate over centralized vs. distributed posting
- Yoana wants dedicated “content log” channel
- Rufus prefers using existing “what’s cooking” channel
- Goal: increase team posting volume before optimizing organization
- Current challenge: getting developers to share work updates
- Low friction posting more important than perfect organization initially
- Need to integrate with existing workflows rather than impose new ones
Product Hunt Campaign
- Flowershow currently at 122 points, 7th place
- Need team push to move higher in rankings
- Ola checking rankings every 15 minutes
- Hoping for sustained traffic rather than just spike
Next Steps
- Rufus will promote content log channel approach
- Yoana to access strategy meeting documents for company vision alignment
- Anu and Rufus to sync on Volume & Velocity project progress
- Team to continue Product Hunt voting push
- Separate follow-up conversations needed on workflow and authority issues
